Description:
Years after his adventures in Constantinople, the now elderly Assassin Ezio Auditore has settled in a villa in the Tuscan countryside with his wife, Sofia Sartor, and his two children Flavia and Marcello.
One day, an Assassin, Shao Jun, from China, shows up at his mansion, seeking help to save his people and the Chinese branch of the Order. Ezio refuses to help her, but still lets her stay. The next day, Ezio finds Jun reading his papers in his study and angrily hunts her down. Later, realizing he had been too brusque, he allowed her to help him with the grape harvest, accompanying him shopping at Florence. There, Ezio helps Jun understand the meaning of being Assassins. Having finished their shopping, the two are intercepted by some soldiers of Emperor Jiajing and yet eliminated by Jun. Back at the mansion, that night Ezio and Jun are attacked again by other soldiers. Defeated as well, Shao Jun decided to leave the next morning. Ezio then gives her a mysterious chest, telling her that he would help her in the future, just in case she lost her way.
Some time later, Ezio decides to accompany Sofia and Flavia to Florence after finishing writing a letter. When they arrived, Ezio sat on a bench nearby while his wife and daughter purchased alimony. Meanwhile, a young man sits near Ezio, insulting the women of Florence. However, Ezio tells him that his problem is not the women of Florence, but he is taken ill. Seeing this, the young man shakes Ezio's hand telling him to take courage, in turning around the boy shows a scar on his left cheek and after a mysterious exchange of glances advises Ezio to rest and walks away. Ezio then turns toward his wife and daughter, dying peacefully. The letter written shortly before he left was addressed to his wife Sofia.
" When I was young, I had freedom, but I did not see it; I had time, but I did not know it; I had love, but I did not feel it. It took many years to understand the meaning of all three, and now, in the twilight of my life, this understanding has turned into fulfillment. Love, freedom and time, then so available, are the nourishment that allows me to move forward. Especially love, my dear: for you, for our children, for our brothers and sisters, and for the vast and magnificent world that has given us life and continues to surprise us. With infinite affection, my Sofia. Yours forever, Ezio. " |
